Schizophrenia & Other Psychotic Disorders

Schizophrenia is a life-altering mental disorder that makes the person suffering from it unable to live a normal life. It causes a person to forget the difference between reality and imagination in their lives.

This includes several factors that need to be treated such as:

  • Delusions
  • Hallucinations
  • Disorganised thinking or speech
  • Disorganised or abnormal body functions & movements
  • Social isolation, etc

It is unclear what are the exact causes of this disease but it can be noted that it is some combination of genetics,environment & brain chemistry. It is also noted that long-time substance abuse could also be a cause.
The complications that follow with this disease and many other psychotic disorders can be:

  • Suicidal thoughts/attempts
  • Anxiety or OCD behavioral tendencies
  • Depression
  • Substance abuse
  • inability to be part of social structures or have a social life
  • Financial problems due to the inability to sustain work
