Personality Disorders

Personality Disorders are not unheard of in our country except if it has been masked as other diseases or something else entirely. Society may term people affected by this as anti-social, weird, or perverted. That is not the case. These types of disorders are caused by events triggered during teenage, early adulthood, or adulthood. These symptoms & behaviours may seem normal to the person suffering from it but to others, they may come off as unnatural, unhealthy ways of thinking and behaving. This affects all areas of life and makes it extremely difficult to be able to live a functional & normal life.

These disorders can be classified into 3 major clusters, A, B & C:

  • Paranoid Personality Disorder
  • Schizoid Personality Disorder
  • Schizotypal Personality Disorder
  • Antisocial Personality Disorder
  • Borderline Personality Disorder
  • Histrionic Personality Disorder
  • Narcissistic Personality Disorder
  • Avoidant Personality Disorder
  • Dependant Personality Disorder
  • Obsessive-Compulsive Personality Disorder

The symptoms for these disorders may or may not overlap but it is important to be able to diagnose the disorder to be able to improve the quality of life for anyone who is suffering from these disorders.
