Neurocognitive Disorders

Neurocognitive disorders are disorders that cause a person to have decreased mental function not just mentally but also physically.
These not only affect the social & emotional aspects of life but also the physical aspects of life & if not treated can lead to more serious physical & mental health conditions.

These disorders can be classified into 3 main categories:

  • Delirium
  • Dementia
  • Amnestic Disorders
  • Cognitive Disorders not otherwise specified

There are several causes of this disorder some being;

  • Dementia Due to Metabolic Causes
  • Drug & Alcohol-Related
  • Infections
  • Degenerative Disorders( Alzheimer’s, Parkinson’s, etc)
  • Cardiovascular Disorders
  • Brain Injury caused By Trauma
  • Psychiatric
  • Physiological
  • Demylinating Diseases
