Eating Disorders

Eating disorders are more than just a disorder where the affected person eats or avoids food. This is a complex mental health disorder that directly affects the physical & mental aspects of a person’s life. This requires medical & psychiatric intervention & care in its more severe stages.

These disorders are a range of psychological conditions that include, unhealthy eating habits, maybe an obsession with food, diet, body weight, shape, etc. In severe cases, these can cause severe health complications and have a variety of symptoms.

Some common symptoms may include:

  • Dramatic weight loss
  • Excuses to avoid meals
  • Concern about eating in public places
  • Obsession about calories, weight, fat intake etc
  • Intense fear of weight gain or being called fat
  • Complaints of constipation, cold intolerance, abdominal pain
